In context to the recent Chennai flood where more than 400 people were killed and 18 lakhs people were displaced with estimates of damages and losses ranging from Rs. 50,000 crores to Rs. 10,00,000 crores, the floods were the costliest to have occurred in 2015 and among the costliest natural disaster of the year.
